The uVme/VWD opportunity. Web 2.0 is here web 3.0 is coming

October 20, 2007

Ok, the age of this Traditionalist and the title of his YouTube video “Web 2.0 is here web 3.0 is coming”, intrigued me enough to check out his prediction for Web 3.0. His video was discussing a product that he is working with, uVme. The way he discussed what and why he was doing what he was doing DID make me EXCITED about what he was talking about.

And if people were addressing WEB 3.0 with sentiments like this:

“Helping people is my goal in life”

“Freedom”

I would buy into it.

I must admit I am surprised that a traditionalist would get such a reaction from me. Most time, the speak is corporate jargon…this was a infomercial but he used words that I heart as a Generation X/Y cusper.

UVME

“Global Games Network”

GLOBAL – Its important to be Global. The world is opening up and in order for us to evolve we need to be connected.

GAMES – Games are so very important. In our busy lives there is very little time to sit back and relax and do things just for the sake of enjoyment. Though even with games there is a bit of competition to win…but its not one of those things you have been told to go out and do to be successful in life. I find it ironic to have Traditionalists inferring , “go play GAMES its o.k!”.

NETWORK – O, my favorite word ever. Network, and Networking via an outlet of enjoyment of games – LOVE IT!

uvME – Anything with ME in a title attracts ME as a Generation X ‘r. Since its all about ME.

But really, it feels a bit like an odd WEB 3.0 Pyramid deal.

Freedom of expression thru the internet can change the world

October 20, 2007

Freedom of expression thru the internet can change the world…but only if that expression is set free. One company has set out to accomplish that UltraReach who offers ‘Privacy, Security and Freedom’

For Internet users in China when they use Yahoo or Google search engines they do not get the same access to results as we do in the United States. UltraReach is a tool that combats the restrictions on information that will open the doors to a world of information.

Perhaps PUGS should be blocked from searches too. Who knows what would happen if they got loose.

Next Generation of Social Networking…WEB 3.0 Its Coming

October 17, 2007

Next Generation of Social Networking – WEB 3.0 it’s coming to a computer screen near you.

NOT!

Wednesday night I went to the Web Guild “Panel” discussion at Google about WEB 3.0. Am I excited about WEB 3.0? No not really.

I was entertained by my neighbor who was typing LIVE to his Blog – Innovation Creators during the event. I was impressed with his skill of listening, typing and looking up items the speakers were talking about on Google.

You would think he was a Gen Y multi-tasker but he was a Boomer. Just like most of the audience which I was also VERY surprised about. Considering we are talking about the future of the Web which will be effecting the next generation I assumed there would be a younger crowd. But it was mostly Boomer men.

It left me deeply curious about what everyone’s interest were in the event. I met a lawyer looking for a job. I met a guy, from Yahoo who was curious about the Google recruiters who supposedly blanket the event (no, he wasn’t looking for a job and no, I didn’t meet any recruiters).

Most of the discussions were very orientated to Aps, how to make money, and who’s done what with who. There was no real indication of what they were doing to find out what real people want. One panelists did send a survey to his social networking group prior to the event.

We might get to WEB 3.0 a lot quicker if we turn to a “panel” of users, talking about what they want from the Web rather than a bunch of guys talking about stuff.

“Customers know what they want but not always know where to find it” YellowBook

GOOGLE CAMPUS is awesome though. Laundry mat, garden, free juice and internet access for all! When I was leaving a worker from the cafeteria was surfing the web on his break.
